I have a pretty young female who is about to turn 1 that I’d like to rehome.
I don’t know her breed but you can tell by looking that she has some herding dog and hunting dog traits.
Her current name is Juneau like the state capital of Alaska.
Her mother was hit by a car when she was only 5 weeks old and we adopted her and did our absolute best with her and honestly she is a wonderful pup.
The issue is her energy level.
It is non-stop.
She can run for hours.
She loves to tree squirrels and alert on them.
We are not hunters.
We live in town with a nice sized fenced back yard that she is absolutely destroying because she needs to run and be active.
She is super agile and can jump fences, climb stairs, and catch frisbees right out of the air (for hours on end).
She loves her pack (us).
She only wants to be beside you all day long and will cry if anyone is outside without her.
This can go on for hours because she never gives up.
However, she does not chew on things in your house.
She has never destroyed furniture,
shoes, or anything else like that.
She loves to dig.
It’s absolutely comical to watch but when you have a small piece of property, it gets old very quickly.
She is totally housebroken and has been for months.
She has only ever been fed Purina One puppy and just recently moved up to the high protein weight maintenance one.
She’s been fed 1/2 can of ProPan puppy per day with her food since 5 weeks old.
Her body is in amazing condition but she will need more shots (we did get her basic 1st shots) and to be fixed.
She has no food aggression and you can literally reach in her bowl.
She is great with kids (been raised with 4 and their friends) and has been raised with cats.
She plays with her cat brother.
They are best friends though it looks rough sometimes.
He loves it.
Our 10 year old cat doesn’t like to be messed with and Juneau avoids her, so she’s not cat aggressive or else she’d be stalking her.
Juneau is almost past the “jumping on you” phase.
She only jumps when very excited like if you first get home but
it is decreasing all the time.
We have trained her with a bark collar because she was absolutely ear piercing and we got noise complaints from our neighbors but pretty sure she would go back to her old ways if you wanted her to be loud for hunting.
Look, I love her, we all do.
She has been spoiled and babied and played with every day of her life.
She will be loyal to whoever feeds her and pets her.
She is beyond sweet but very stubborn and extremely smart.
I just know in my heart that she would be better with some real training and tons of space.
Just look at these photos of her.
It took me a very long time to harden my heart enough just to post this but I have to let her go.
We did our best by her.
She is still very young and trainable.
She’d make a wonderful dog for someone with a chunk of land, a lot of patience and a job for her to do.
Asking $50 rehoming fee but she comes with all her stuff and any remaining dog food/treats we have on hand.
Please understand how hard this will be on our family and that
we’re not doing it because we’re lazy or don’t care but because she is worthy of a freer lifestyle and of getting in touch with her instincts which we have been denying her.
I think she wants to hunt!
