JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Superintendent, assists the Program Coordinator with overall camp operations for children ages 5-13; plans, organizes and supervises summer camp staff; ensures activities are conducted as planned; verifies safety procedures are carried out as intended.
Conducts recreational activities at recreation centers, parks, playgrounds/related recreational areas, including field trips and associated facilities.
Informs parents of children's progress; completes paperwork accurately and in a timely manner; conducts program evaluations; supervises camp operations in the absence of the Camp Director.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of 18 months of experience working with children in a recreation or physical education program OR two (2) years of college-level course work
• Driver's license required.
• CPR and First Aid certified or willing to become certified
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Ability to establish a positive rapport by using tact and discretion with participants, parents and staff.
• Ability to keep order and administer discipline in a caring and patient manner.
• Familiarity with children's literature, games and other recreational resources.
• Ability to recognize safety concerns and provides a safe environment.
• Must have the ability to climb stairs and handle heights.
• Must have the ability to work outdoors
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Must be able to implement summer camp programs recreational and educational activities through lesson plans.
• Supervises participants, primarily school-age children, in playground or recreation center activities including literacy, math and science educational activities, games, sports, tournaments, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, entertainment, and field trips.
• Demonstrates and observes the use of equipment and materials needed for activities and maintains assigned equipment.
• Explains and enforces safety procedures and rules.
• Administers emergency first aid.
• Assists in the maintenance and preparation of required records on activities and participants.
• Performs related work as required.
• Inform supervisor of daily operational needs, problems, and patron feedback.
• Attend staff meetings and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Work as a Team Player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments

• Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm
